 Speeding passenger coach falls into ravine in Balochistan's Lasbela, at least 39 individuals dead

According to officials , at least 39 people were killed when a passenger coach plunged into a ravine in Pakistan  province  Balochistan's Lasbela. Assistant Commissioner Hamza Anjum of Lasbela confirmed the incident,  The passenger coach was travelling from Quetta to Karachi with close to 48 passengers on board.

Number of casualties could increase

“Due to speeding, the coach crashed into the pillar of a bridge while taking a U-turn near Lasbela. The vehicle subsequently careened into a ravine and then caught fire,” told Hamza Anjum. He added that three people, including a child and a woman, have been rescued alive. However, he feared that the number of casualties could increase.

Pakistan has reported over 9000 road accidents annually

According to reports, “At least 17 bodies have been recovered from the accident site so far, adding that they have been moved to the hospital and Since 2011, Pakistan has reported over 9000 road accidents annually, with an average death toll of over 5000.”
