Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov alleges war with Ukraine launched against Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergie Lavrov while speaking at Raisina Dialogue in Delhi, stated that was in Ukraine was "launched against us" and went on to assert that Moscow was not an aggressor. He further went on to accuse that the West of having double standards and accused them of raking up the Ukraine issue during G 20 Foreign Ministers meeting. Also alleged that there was no discussion over the situation in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan or Yugoslavia.

Sergie Lavrov asserts that Russia in aggressor in Ukraine conflict

Lavrov stated,

"The war which we are trying to stop, which was launched against us using Ukrainian people."

Russian Foreign Minister emphatically stated that the country is only “defending itself”

"Nobody was giving a damn about anything but finances and macroeconomic policies which the G20 was formed for... when Russia has started to defend itself, there is nothing except Ukraine that is of interest to the G20,"

Accuses West of Double Standards

He also launched frontal attack on the US and referred to its “double standard” towards its approach to the Ukraine war and stated,

"They do not remember when Serbia was bombed. Joe Biden, a senator at that time, bragged that he promoted that approach. When Iraq was ruined as a state, a few years later, Tony Blair said it was a mistake. You think the United States has the right to declare a threat just like they did to other countries, but no one questions it for that."

Also stated that it will be difficult for Russia to end the war because Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had signed a decree making negotiations with Moscow under Vladimir Putin a “criminal offence”. He also emphasized and alleged that countries in Europe were not affected by what Russia was doing in Ukraine , but by the reaction of the West to Moscow’s actions of the region.
