WORLD Pakistan: Lieutenant General Asim Munir to be appointed as the new Army Chief Rafia Tasleem Nov 24, 2022 11:40 GMT Pakistan: On Thursday, Lieutenant General Asim Munir was selected to lead the Pakistani Army. Munir has previously worked for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Following a three-year extension, Bajwa announced his retirement. He had given up on trying to get another extension. Meanwhile, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chose Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza to serve in that capacity (CJCSC).
