India Ambassador to US Taranjit Singh Sandhu's tenure extended to 2024 - A decision welcomed by important business bodies in US

The Indian government extended Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s tenure to 2024, thus providing the required impetus to the excellent contribution he has delivered towards strengthening business ties with all and especially the Indian Diasporas. The significant move by the Indian government has been reciprocated by various trading organisations including in particular a US-based business advocacy group, US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) which has welcomed the decision and claimed that this would herald a new beginning in strengthening US-India business to newer heights.

The Indian ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been successful in bringing US-India business relations to newer heights. His immaculate leadership qualities have been acclaimed among cross-sections of business houses in America. Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of USISPF has overwhelmingly commended Sandhu’s contribution towards building a very vibrant relationship between India and the US business firms. He claimed that the Indian Ambassador has been a significant asset towards reinforcing strong commercial ties between the two largest democracies.

Ambassador Sandhu has been a witness to the evolution of Indo-US relations during the last 20 years

Mr Sandhu has witnessed the evolution of the strategic partnership through his several years of stewardship in the US. During his stint as DCM in the 90s to the present tenure as Ambassador, Sandhu brings unparalleled acumen and experience to his interactions with the legislature and executives of the US government. His extension will surely help in consolidating his excellent achievements while heralding a strong Indo-US bond that is bound to take it to the next level.

Sandhu was earlier High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, and also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Washington DC from 2013-2017. He also served in the US from 1997 to 2000 and is a familiar face in the power corridors of the US.

Why Sandhu is a standalone choice?

Taranjit Singh Sandhu has not only witnessed the evolution of a very vibrant Indo-US relationship during the last 20 years, he has been largely instrumental in bringing the two countries closer. The US business community has a very strong grip on its domestic policies and is also equally powerful in the political corridors. Sandhu has the credit to create a strong bonhomie among the powerful business houses in the US besides his splendid rapport with the dominant Indian Diaspora, has effectively strengthened India’s stature in ascending to a much higher echelon. Notably, today India enjoys one of the best diplomatic relations with America, irrespective of the fact it has for its own interests, aligned its policies towards arch-rivals Russia, the credit goes to the proficient diplomat.

India today stands amid the West and the East with presumably a balancing factor between the US and Russia. A very strong and competent diplomat is required to represent India in the US at this crucial juncture and none other than Taranjit Singh Sandhu has the potential and testimony to prove worthy of the coveted position.
