On Saturday, fighting broke out between the Sudan military and the major paramilitary organisation in the nation. On Saturday morning, many gunshots and explosions were heard throughout Khartoum as reported clashes between opposing armed forces factions.
Paramilitary groups assert that they now control both the Meroe airport and the international airport in Khartoum. The Army Chief General Burhan's home and the Presidential Palace were allegedly taken over by the paramilitary RSF.
Videos showed armed fighters marching through residential areas, performing checkpoints at major traffic crossroads, and driving across the city's international airport's runway were widely shared on social media. Heavy gunfire could be heard in the distance at the same time.
According to the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors, "the total number of deaths among civilians reached 56," and there were also "tens of deaths" among the security personnel and almost 600 injuries.
