 Despite making up just 1% of the US population, Indians pay 6% of the country's taxes

Indian-Americans, who make up just 1% of the population, were recognized by Congressman Rich McCormick for contributing 6% of the nation's taxes.

In his opening remarks on the US House of Representatives' floor, the Georgian lawmaker said

"Although they make up about one per cent of American society, they pay about six per cent of the taxes. They're amongst the top producers, and they do not cause problems. They follow the laws,”

With an estimated four million people, Indian Americans are the second-largest immigrant community in the country.

Streamline US Immigration process

Direct immigrants from India make up a sizable number of McCormick's constituents, a Republican who represents Georgia's 6th Congressional District, which includes the northern suburbs of Atlanta.
He had high praise for Indian immigrants, noting that one in five of the doctors in his neighborhood come from that country. Further stating that Indians represent some of the best citizens in America, he urged his colleagues Congressman to support streamlining the immigration process for people who come to the country, obey the law, pay their taxes, and contribute the most to society.
