Close Encounter of the Asteroid ? NASA Warns of Impending Flybys

NASA: A list of asteroids that will come quite close to Earth in the future days was published by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Little bodies like asteroids, comets, and meteors in our solar system can surprise us greatly. These bits of metal, rock, and ice are byproducts of the creation of our solar system. They resemble a fossilised record of our early solar system in many ways. 3,865 known comets and 1,278,065 known asteroids are both currently known. Asteroids, sometimes known as minor planets, are rocky, airless debris from the early stages of the solar system's creation, which occurred around 4.6 billion years ago.

List Of Asteroids

  • Asteroid 2023 FA7: Today, the 92-foot-long asteroid will pass within 1,400,000 kilometres of Earth. It is the size of an aeroplane.
  • Asteroid 2023 GE: On April 5, the 35-foot-long bus-sized asteroid will fly by Earth with a narrow margin of only 5,68,000 miles.
  • Asteroid 2023 FQ7: On April 6, the 65-foot-tall and house-sized asteroid will be 3,570,000 miles away from Earth.
  • Asteroid 2023 FZ3: The enormous asteroid, which is 150 feet wide and the size of an aeroplane, is travelling towards Earth at a speed of 67656 kilometres per hour. On April 6, this enormous asteroid will pass Earth at a distance of 4,190,000 kilometres.

NASA will receive a historic asteroid sample delivery

Asteroid and comet approaches to Earth that are relatively close are monitored by NASA's Asteroid Watch dashboard. For each encounter, the dashboard shows the date of closest approach, an estimated object diameter, relative size, and distance from Earth. About 239,000 kilometres separate Earth from the moon on average. On September 24, NASA will receive a historic asteroid sample delivery, making it the first mission to bring an asteroid sample back to Earth. The OSIRIS-REx mission of NASA is returning to Earth while carrying a sample it obtained from the asteroid Bennu's stony surface.

Difficulties in the Mission

This brave mission is set to face one of its greatest difficulties yet, delivering the asteroid sample to Earth while protecting it from heat, vibrations, and earthly pollutants. After seven years in space, including a hair-raising touchdown on Bennu to retrieve dust and boulders. The OSIRIS-REx team will hone the methods necessary to retrieve the sample in the state of Utah and transport it to a brand-new lab created for the material at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, over the course of the following six months.
