A well-known Indian wrestler from the renowned Phogat family, Vinesh Phogat is making the headlines with her glorious performance at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Olympics Triumph

In the Paris Olympics 2024, Vinesh Phogat showed her world-class performance with extreme endeavor in all her rounds which resulted in her entering the finals of the Olympics and assuring a medal for the country.

Wrestler's Protest

In January 2023, Indian wrestlers began protesting against the former WFI president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexually assaulting female wrestlers during his tenure.

Crucial Part

The protest lasted till 15th June 2023 in which Vinesh played a crucial part as she led the protest from the front. She was beaten and dragged by the police personnel but did not take a step behind in the fight for justice. Later, BJP MP was booked under the POCSO act.

Knee Surgery

Vinesh Phogat underwent knee surgery exactly a year ago and couldn't take part in the Asian Games, although she got the direct entry in the games.

Last Olympics

This is Vinesh's third Olympics and finally she bagged a medal for the country. In 2016, she suffered a knee injury in the Quarterfinals and 2020 Tokyo, she got out in the same round. This will be her last Olympics.

Beaten Reigning Champion

Vinesh Phogat's first round in the Paris Olympics was very difficult as it was against the reigning champion and world no. 1 Yui Susaki, but Vinesh turned the mats and registered the victory.

Vinesh Phogat is all set to play her final match in her last Olympics (as she mentioned). She will be up against USA's Sarah Ann Hilderbrandt from 9:45 PM onwards.
