Viral Video: Lioness Receives Backup during Hyena Attack

Viral Video: The internet is filled with adorable and funny videos of dogs and cats, but this viral video’s heroes are lions. One would not expect it, but lions are some of the most social species living in groups called “prides”. This video with over 3.8 million views, shows a lioness being helped out by its friends when it is being attacked.

Lions are highly territorial in nature and occupy the same area for generations. Females are ferocious and actively defend their territories against other females, while resident males protect prides from rival coalitions. There is a strong sense of loyalty, which explains the behaviour in the video.

This Lioness' Friends Had her Back

At the start of this viral video, a huge pack of hyenas is viciously hounding a lone lioness trying to escape their clutches, not being able to fend them all off. However, within seconds, a group of four lionesses jump in and fight the hyenas off their friend, making the hyenas hurriedly scurry away.

Netizens React with Nostalgia 

The original poster of this tweet added the funny caption, “Reminded me of school days: "मेरे चार दोस्तों को आने दे, तब देखता हूं तुम्हें" 

To this, several people commented remembering their school days with these kinds of experiences, and how interesting and funny it is to see human behaviour be reflected so clearly in animals. Many commenters relayed their own funny experiences, while others laughed at how relatable the video was. Maybe this proves that we are all animals at the end of the day!
