Uttarakhand Schools Closed Amid Heavy Rainfall

To reach a large part of population, the administration issued holidays for schools in Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar. This is a preventive measure taken up by the administration for the safety of students and staff due to the unfavorable climatic conditions. Even the first Monday of Sawan, when the number of Kanwar pilgrims is high, which is the Kanwar rush to Haridwar and Rishikesh to gather water of the Ganga, was disturbed not because of the rains.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for many districts in Uttarakhand, warning of continued heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning, especially in Kedarnath Dham, through July 27. The authorities have asked everyone to stay on full alert and not take any chances.
