WhatsApp: Millions of iPhone owners should take note of this alert. By October, some older iPhone models might no longer support WhatsApp. Therefore, if you enjoy using WhatsApp and own an earlier model of the iPhone, you will either need to update your device or choose a different online messaging service. In order to implement new functionality that might not run on older operating systems, WhatsApp will cease to function in some Android and iOS versions, according to a report from WABetaInfo. In the near future, WhatsApp plans to discontinue support for iOS 10, iOS 11, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5C for the same reason.

Update to the latest version of iOS to continue using WhatsApp

"Unfortunately, due to some internal reasons, WhatsApp is now really planning to drop the support for certain iOS versions over the coming months: we're talking about iOS 10 and iOS 11!," according to WABetaInfo. The complaint included a screenshot that read, "Update to the latest version of iOS to continue using WhatsApp. WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 24 Oct 2022. Please go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version."  

According to WhatsApp's FAQ website, it currently supports and suggests using the following devices: KaiOS 2.5.0 and newer, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2, Android running OS 4.1 and newer, iPhone running iOS 12 and newer. You will be alerted directly in WhatsApp before we stop supporting your operating system and prompted to upgrade several times, according to WhatsApp.

To continue using WhatsApp on iOS 10 or iOS 11, you must update to iOS 12

As a result, it can be claimed that in order to continue using WhatsApp on iOS 10 or iOS 11, you must update to iOS 12."It means you can still continue using WhatsApp on iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6S, but you need to update your iOS version. Unfortunately, WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C since iOS 12 is not available for these devices," explained WABetaInfo.
