 Yet another Kashmiri Pandit shot dead in Kashmir in an incident of targeted killing

In yet another incident of targeted killing, a man belonging to Kashmiri Pandit Community was shot dead by terrorists in Pulwama district. The victim has been identified as Sanjay Sharma who was working as an armed guard in his village.

Terrorist shot dead a men belonging to Kashmiri Pandit Community

Jammu and Kashmir Police Tweeted,

“Terrorists fired upon one civilian from minority namely Sanjay Sharma S/O Kashinath Sharma R/O Achan Pulwama while on way to local market. He was shifted to hospital however, he succumbed to injuries. There was armed guard in his village. Area cordoned off. Details shall follow,” 

Jammu & Kashmir Police has cordoned off the area and an operation has been launched to nab the assailants.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has reacted to the incident and stated,

“deeply saddened to hear of the demise of Sanjay Pandith".

Abdullah Tweeted,

“Sanjay was working as a bank security guard & was killed in a militant attack earlier today. I unequivocally condemn this attack & send my condolences to his loved ones,”

Plight of Kashmiri Pandit Community in J & K

Recently Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed Rajya Sabha that as many as 14 people belonging to minority community , including three Kashmiri Pandits, were killed in Jammu and Kashmir last year.

Rai has also apprised of the security measures taken by the government to protect the lives of minorities which included group security in the form of static guards , day and night area domination round the clock ‘nakas’ at strategic points.

Further stated that under Prime Minister’s development package , 2015, 3,000 government jobs for Kashmiri migrants have been created of which 2,639 have been filled in the last five years.
