 UP Update: MBBS student found hanging inside his hostel

UP Update: Today, Brajesh Pathak, Uttar Pradesh's deputy CM said that an investigation into the death of a medical student is being conducted who was found hanging in his hostel of Saifai Medical College.

It is suspected that the MBBS students was suffering from depression. Yogi Adityanath had ordered a CBI investigation after the mother of the deceased alleged it to be a case of murder, not suicide.

19-year-old Himanshu Gupta was a first year MBBS student at Saifai Medical College. He was a resident of Gorakhpur and was found hanging in his hostel.

“In connection with the suicide case of Himanshu Gupta, a first-year MBBS student of Saifai Medical College, an inquiry committee was constituted. On the basis of evidence and family statements it is evident that the student died by suicide due to depression,” Brajesh Pathak tweeted.

The government of Uttar Pradesh ordered a CBI probe after Himanshu's mother alleged that she saw some injury marks on his son's body. To which, the Samajwadi Party (SP) in a tweet termed the incident as "extremely saddening", and has demanded the government to assist Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased.
