SEC notifies electoral symbols for parties and Independents

Election symbols have been issued by the State Election Commission Uttar Pradesh for unrecognized and independent candidates. 197 election symbols have been issued by the State Election Commission for unrecognized parties.

While 42 election symbols have been distributed for independent candidates. Om Prakash Rajbhar's party Subhaspa, Shivpal Singh Yadav's Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party and Apna Dal are not recognized parties.

There are 18 recognized political parties in Uttar Pradesh

Even if these parties enter the election field, they will be given different symbols. There are 18 recognized political parties in Uttar Pradesh, their symbol will remain the same. Election symbols of parties like BJP (lotus), Congress (paw of hand), Samajwadi Party (bicycle), BSP (elephant) will remain the same. Big parties including BJP, SP have announced to contest the Municipal Corporation, Municipality and Nagar Panchayat elections on their party symbols this time.

Election symbols like Carrom Boat, CCT, Computer, Dish Antenna, Ginger, Gramophone, Jackfruit, Telephone, Chappal, Green Chilli, Double Roti, Bucket, Calculator, Cauliflower, Lock have been reserved for unrecognized parties. While gun, motorcycle, electric bulb have been allotted election symbols for independent candidates. Whereas mace, hammer, sword, lattu and the like election symbols have been kept for Municipal Corporation Mayor or Mayor, Municipality and Nagar Panchayat President.

Municipal elections in UP were to be announced in November, but it is believed that due to Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-elections, Khatauli, Rampur assembly by-elections and UP assembly session it is getting delayed. Right now the process of reservation in Municipal Corporations is in the final stage. The final publication of the voter list is also to be done. Only after this the Election Commission can announce the municipal elections.
