Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that UP has full potential to become a hub for manufacturing electric vehicles. He suggested the government to work on the model of London Transport. Said, include all electric buses in the fleet. Investors will buy the bus, the driver will be theirs, the conductor yours. The use of EV will reduce the transportation cost by more than half. People will be able to travel by AC bus by paying 30-40% less fare. In this exercise, 1.5 lakh electric buses will be able to come in UP and 3 lakh people will get employment.

Nitin Gadkari said in a session organized on the possibilities of electric vehicle (EV) and transport in UP at Dadhichi Hall that the scrap policy of the Center has come. If UP implements it, then all the components of vehicles will not have to be imported, this will reduce the cost by 30%. Cities like Agra, Kanpur, Aligarh, Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Meerut can become major centers of EV manufacturing in the state. This will also bring huge investment in the state. 87% of land in UP is irrigated. There is also a possibility of becoming a center of bio energy and hydrogen energy here. UP can play an important role in making the country an exporter of fuel.

Visionary leadership with UP

The Union Minister said that you can donate eyes to someone, but not the vision of development. Today UP has the vision of development as well as visionary leadership. That is why the vehicle of UP is running fast on the expressway of development. In this, Gadkari asked the UP government to make a busport for electric vehicles in UP, it would be connected with facilities like airport. The center will help you completely.

Gadkari also took a dig at the condition and working of the buses. He said that I am not talking about UP, but in some states the buses are such that except the horn, everything rings. He said that if there is an EV bus then diesel will not leak. After all, where will someone go by keeping electricity?

Charging stations will be opened every 15 km: Yogi

CM Yogi Adityanath said that if you do not stay one step ahead of time then you will be left behind in the race of development. The state understands this and is prepared according to future needs like electric vehicles. We have made preparations to open charging stations for EVs every 15 kms. EVs will become cheaper as technology advances. The private sector will have to contribute in improving the technology.

Appreciating Gadkari's contribution in infrastructure development, the CM said that today Meerut-Delhi has a 12-lane expressway in UP. The foundation stone of the Sports University was to be laid there, in which the PM was to attend. PM could not come by air due to bad weather. I reluctantly requested to travel by road and he reached the venue in 45 minutes via the new highway. Earlier this distance was covered in three to four hours. Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh also addressed the session.

Delhi-Noida pollution also mentioned

Talking about the features of electric vehicles, the pollution of Delhi-Noida was also mentioned. Yogi said that when I went to Noida in January. There was smog. When I stayed outside for a while, my eyes started burning. People told that this is because of pollution. Nitin Gadkari said that I live less in Delhi, my infection increases by staying there. The main reason for this is air pollution, 40% of which is contributed by the Transport Department alone.
