Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP's Double Engine Government, Questions the Need for Two Deputy CMs in Uttar Pradesh

Akhilesh Yadav's Veiled Jibe at BJP! 'Double Engine Government or Double Failure? Why Two Deputy CMs?'

Akhilesh Yadav: The political landscape of Uttar Pradesh has once again come under scrutiny, as chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Akhilesh Yadav, has raised significant concerns over the efficacy of the BJP-led government. Yadav has sharply criticised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership without mentioning him directly by questioning the reasoning behind the selection of two Deputy Chief Ministers.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Social Media Attack

Akhilesh Yadav expressed his worries on social media on Monday. He subtly mocked the BJP's "double engine" administration in a tweet; the phrase refers to the double engine model, which has the same party leading both the central and state governments. Yadav questioned if the government was really functioning well enough to require two Deputy Chief Ministers.

He wrote, “Some people are praising the ‘double engine’ after experiencing a ‘double loss.’ If the government was doing its job effectively, there wouldn’t be a need for two Deputy Chief Ministers.”

Akhilesh Yadav vs. Keshav Prasad Maurya

This isn't the first time Yadav has clashed with the state leadership. Recently, a direct verbal exchange between Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Akhilesh Yadav escalated tensions further. On Sunday, Yadav criticized Maurya in a public statement, saying, “He’s insignificant. If the Chief Minister scolds him, he will remain silent. I’ve heard that if scolded by the Chief Minister, it’s unclear who the Deputy Chief Minister is. If you don’t believe me, you can check.”

In response, Keshav Prasad Maurya didn’t hold back. He fired back at Akhilesh Yadav with his own scathing remarks, accusing the SP leader of defending the wrong people. Maurya stated, “Akhilesh Yadav, who defends Mamata Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi ruthlessly, has become a defender of rapists. He has brought up old mistakes made by boys. He should leave politics and become a lawyer for rapists instead.”
