78 Students Fall Ill After Consuming Hostel Food In Lucknow

At least 78 students of the Babu Banarsi Das (BBD) University in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow fell ill allegedly after consuming food in the hostel.

University officials said that 42 students were taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences and 36 to a private hospital in Chinhat. A team from the state health department also visited the students and hostel inside the BBD campus.

The condition of the students deteriorated after having dinner

SM Kamil Rizvi, Dean (Student Welfare) and Chief Proctor, BBD Educational Group, said, “There was a program on the campus, which continued till late night. On returning to the hostel, the students have dinner. Hours later, we received reports of some of them having stomach problems.''

All the students are out of danger

The superintendent of the Chinhat Community Health Center (CHC) said the students said they ate salad, rice, dal, chapati and sweets. According to him, the taste of chapati and sweets was bad. Most of the students have been discharged, while the condition of others is stable. Till now no statement has been issued by the college department in this matter. Although everyone's condition is fine after the health of the children deteriorated, however, due to this carelessness, risk is being taken with the lives of the students. Cases of bad food in hostels are coming to the fore.
