Neha Kumari Sep 28, 2024 11:38 GMT Uttarakhand Land Law: In response to growing demands, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that his government will introduce a comprehensive land law in Uttarakhand. The proposed legislation will be tabled during the budget session next year. The new law aims to regulate land purchases by non-residents, with strict provisions for land misuse. According to the announcement, any violation of the rule restricting non-residents to purchasing 250 square meters of residential land or 12.5 acres of agricultural land will result in the land being vested back into the government after an investigation. How Much Land Can an Outsider Buy in Uttarakhand? Under the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act, which applies to Uttarakhand, non-residents can buy up to 250 square meters of land without government permission. However, there is no restriction on land purchases for permanent residents of the state. Does This Law Apply to Uttarakhand Residents? The current land law does not apply to the permanent residents of Uttarakhand. Residents of the state can purchase any amount of land, with no set limit. Can Outsiders Purchase Land in the Names of Family Members? Under the current land law, each individual can purchase up to 250 square meters of land. However, if a person buys land in their name and then also purchases land in the name of their spouse or family members, they may face legal issues. Land exceeding the permissible limit will be vested back into the government. Will the Stricter Land Law Affect Industrial Development? The new land law will not hinder industrial development in Uttarakhand. CM Dhami clarified that investors seeking to establish industries in the state will not face any difficulties in acquiring land. The government is committed to ensuring smooth land allocation for projects that contribute to the state's growth and employment. Will the Stricter Land Law Curb Land Misuse? The new law aims to curb the misuse of land, particularly in cases where individuals acquire land under the pretext of industrial use but repurpose it for other means. In such cases, the government will take action and reclaim the land for proper use. This move is expected to control unauthorized land deals and prevent the exploitation of Uttarakhand's land resources. Keep watching our Channel ‘DNP INDIA’.
