UP Nikay Chunaav 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced Sunita Dayal as their candidate for mayor of Ghaziabad in the upcoming Ghaziabad Nikay Chunaav (Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation Elections). Sunita Dayal and the current mayor Asha Sharma fought hard for the position. However, it's thought that Sunita Dayal Aggarwal won because Sunita Sharma faced a strong anti-incumbency campaign on the seat where Asha Sharma had previously held office.

Sunita was among the leading BJP candidates in 2017

The state branch of the party is led by vice president Sunita Dayal Aggarwal. She began her political career in 2004 with the BJP's ABVP student branch. In 2004, she ran for office in the Assembly on a BJP ticket. According to reports, Sunita was among the leading BJP candidates for the position of mayor in 2017.

Dayal's name was ultimately chosen by the party's top command

Ritu Sharma, Ruchi Goyal, and Lajja Rani Garg were also involved. According to insiders, Ruchi Goyal, Ritu Sharma, and seasoned leader Lajjarani Garg were all among the front-runners for the position. However, Dayal's name was ultimately chosen by the party's top command.
