Tragic Bus Accident in Jammu District Leaves 15 UP Pilgrims Dead, Several Injured

Jammu Bus Accident: On Thursday, a bus fell down a steep gorge in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in at least 15 fatalities and over 20 injuries. Travellers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, were on their way from Jammu to the holy Shiv Khori shrine in the region of Reasi.

Accident Details

The accident occurred near Kali Dhar Mandir on the Jammu-Poonch highway. The ill-fated bus fell into a gorge, causing severe casualties and injuries among the passengers. Local authorities swiftly responded to the emergency, launching a rescue operation to save the injured and retrieve the bodies.

Rescue Operations

Rescue squads hurried to the accident scene, accompanied by local law enforcement and medical officials. The injured passengers received emergency medical assistance and were quickly taken to a nearby hospital in Akhnoor. Because of the severity of their injuries, several were eventually sent to the Government Medical College in Jammu for further care.

Official Statement

The tragic event was confirmed in a statement by the Jammu District Magistrate. "An accident involving a bus carrying passengers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, happened close to Tanda, Akhnoor in Jammu. The statement said, "Rescue operations are currently underway."
