Punjab Punjab News: Punjab Police Crack Chandigarh Grenade Blast Case, Main Accused Arrested The suspect, identified as Rohan Masih, a resident of Passia village in Amritsar district, has been taken into custody. Neha Kumari Sep 14, 2024 13:54 GMT Punjab News: In a significant breakthrough, Punjab Police, in collaboration with central agencies, arrested the main accused in the Chandigarh grenade blast case on Friday. The suspect, identified as Rohan Masih, a resident of Passia village in Amritsar district, has been taken into custody. The grenade attack, which took place in Chandigarh's upscale Sector 10 on Wednesday evening, was masterminded by ISI-backed Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda, of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and US-based gangster Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, according to police officials. Seized Ammunition and Military-Grade Grenade Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that a 9mm Glock pistol and ammunition were seized from Rohan Masih. The grenade used in the attack was a military-grade explosive, smuggled from Pakistan using drones, with the help of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's spy agency. This marks a disturbing link between cross-border terrorism and local operatives in the region. Second Accused Identified DGP Yadav revealed that two men, including Masih, had thrown the hand grenade at the house in Chandigarh. While Masih has been arrested, the second suspect has been identified, and police are conducting raids to apprehend him. Connections to Gangsters and Terror Networks Preliminary investigations show that Masih, who has been working as a carpenter in Jammu and Kashmir, was in contact with US-based gangster Happy Passia. Both men hail from the same village, and this connection is suspected to have played a role in Masih’s involvement in the attack. The investigation is ongoing as authorities look to apprehend the remaining accused and uncover further links between local criminals and cross-border terror networks.
