Punjab News: Govt. Convenes High-Level Meeting to Ensure Maximum Participation in "Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan"

Punjab News: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is all prepared to organise the second season of sports tournament. Building on the triumph of the inaugural season of 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan', an encouraging atmosphere has been established to encourage greater participation of players in the upcoming second season. The grand launch of the games in Bathinda on National Sports Day (August 29th) marks the commencement of the second season.

Punjab Govt. makes collaborative effort

Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains convened a joint meeting with officials from both departments. The aim was to facilitate the extensive involvement of players in the block, district, and state-level competitions of 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2023'. Following the directives of both Cabinet Ministers, a sports competition schedule has been made, aligning with the school games and examinations calendar.

Meet Hayer, the Sports Minister, revealed that they have organized eight age-group competitions covering 35 sports. Given the presence of school students in the younger age categories, a collaborative effort between the sports and education departments has resulted in a joint sports calendar. This calendar has been made to accommodate school examinations. The plan entails block-level tournaments taking place from August 31 to September 9, district-level tournaments scheduled for September 26 to October 5, and state-level tournaments occurring from October 10 to 25.

Schedule to synchronise with exams

The scheduling prioritizes the early dates for block competitions for the younger age groups and reserves the later dates for district competitions. This approach ensures minimal disruption to players' education and provides ample time for exam preparation. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains emphasized the synchronization between sports competitions and academic assessments. He mentioned that the education department is meticulously arranging the examination date sheet in accordance with the sports event schedule.

Attending the meeting were notable figures including Special Chief Secretary of Sports and Youth Services, Sarvjit Singh, Secretary of School Education, KK Yadav, Special Secretary of Sports, Anand Kumar, Deputy Director of Physical Education, Sunil Kumar, and Deputy Director of Sports, Parminder Singh Sidhu.
