Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann calls protesting farmers to have a formal discussion to end the protest. The farmers of the Nehri Pani Prapti Sangarsh Committee have been protesting against the Punjab Government outside the Chief Minister’s residence for halting the canal water project.  The canal water project was started but it was paused by the Punjab Government after some time. The farmers were miffed since they were unable to use the canal water for drinking and irrigation.The farmers are finally invited by Punjab CM to have formal talks tomorrow.

'We'll take call after meeting the CM'

Farmers of Dhuri, Malerkotla, Amar Garh and Malerkala were protesting against the government. The members of the Nehri Pani Prapti Sangarsh Committee said that they will continue their protest and the call to end the protest will depend on Punjab CM after the meet tomorrow. The agitated farmers said that we have been struggling with the scarcity of water for over a year now and the government refuse to pay heed to our concerns.

'Our Protest will continue if our demands are not met'

Protesting farmers have also raised the issue of a sub canal as the promise to built a sub canal was made by CM Surjit Singh Barnala in 1986 but it was never completed. They also said that they will keep protesting if their demands are not met.
