This project, which also reflects Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's visionary aspiration, aims to streamline traffic flow and curb accidents throughout the state. Approximately 5,000 police personnel are anticipated to comprise this force, with nearly 1,500 officers set to be promptly deployed. These personnel will be selected from among the recent recruits. The state's road network now spans a vast 72,078 kilometers, encompassing 4,025 kilometers of both national and state highways. In accordance with historical road accident trends, the project has identified specific highway patrol routes. Along these roads, 144 police cars will be used, each one outfitted with specialised equipment to spot drunk driving and excessive speeding. Each patrol vehicle will cover a 30-kilometer distance. The procurement of vehicles and equipment will necessitate an allocation of Rs 30 crore. Memorial for Freedom Fighter in all districts Tthe Cabinet also granted approval for the establishment of a memorial dedicated to martyrs in each district. This initiative stands as a tribute to the valorous freedom fighters and national icons who made the ultimate sacrifice, whether during the fight for independence or in various wars. The forthcoming memorial is envisioned to serve as a source of inspiration for future generations, encouraging a spirit of selfless devotion to the nation and its citizens, according to an official statement. This facility will operate round-the-clock, extending assistance to both Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and other arriving passengers. The center's services encompass various aspects, including seating arrangements for passengers and their companions, guidance pertaining to flight arrivals, connecting flights, taxi services, and provision for handling lost luggage. AI in Governance Additionally, the Council of Ministers has also approved the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance governance in the state. This strategic decision underscores the state's commitment to pioneering AI applications in governance, with the objective of delivering improved services to its citizens. The potential of AI extends across diverse domains such as curbing road accidents, combating tax evasion, enhancing healthcare services, elevating citizen interactions, and more. An emerging technologies center has already been established under the Punjab State Governance Society (PeGS), and a collaboration has been forged with an NGO to harness the prowess of AI and Machine Learning (ML) within the state administration.
