Punjab Governor Calls for Action! Surgical Strikes on Pakistan to Combat Drug Smuggling

Punjab News: Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit said surgical strikes against Pakistan should be carried out to teach it a lesson on Thursday as he accused the neighbouring nation of smuggling drugs into Indian territory. Purohit also commended the Punjab government for its efforts to combat drones that are used to send drugs across the border and to seize drugs. The governor was in the state's border districts for a two-day visit. He added that it must be done at any costs to prevent the next generation from developing addictions and that Pakistan should be targeted with "one or two surgical strikes" if it is interfering with India.

Governor Purohit Acknowledges Punjab's Collaborative Efforts in Combating Pakistan's Hidden War

Purohit highlighted his delight with the coordination between central organisations including the Punjab Police, Army, and Intelligence Bureau as well as the Border Security Force (BSF). Speaking to the media, the governor lashed out at Pakistan for starting a "hidden war" against India, claiming that the country is doing this because it is unable to directly combat the other nation. Additionally, he stressed the need for a robust response to Pakistan's use of drones to smuggle drugs and weapons into India. Purohit expressed concern over the increasing number of drones being launched by the neighbouring country to carry drugs, saying "Pakistan has started a hidden war (against India)."

Governor Purohit Calls for Strong Measures

He asserted that he was 100% certain that the Pakistani government and army would need to be involved for the use of drones to be successful. He claimed that "they have a hand in it and want to destabilise us." Purohit asserted that he had heard allegations that narcotics had entered schools, pupils were developing addictions, and they were taking money from their families to maintain their addictions. He charged that the Pakistani establishment was attempting to "make our next generation drug addicts." The governor declared that narcotics had to be stopped no matter what. He said that Pakistan should be the target of surgical attacks. India hasn't taken action yet. I'm not the expert, but it seemed to me that Pakistan might be up to no good with us. Surgical attacks should be made against it once or twice. To correct it, a lesson should be given. There needs to be action taken, Purohit added. On September 29, 2016, India carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) in retaliation for a terrorist attack on an Army installation in the Uri area of Jammu & Kashmir.

Governor Purohit Expresses Gratitude for State Administration and Police Efforts

In response to a query about how some AAP leaders perceived his trip to the border districts, Purohit claimed to be a governor who abstains from politics. "I value what I feel is nice. I'll say it again: I'm grateful to the state administration and the police. It is commendable how Amritpal (Singh), a radical preacher, was detained, the man stated. "What does criticising mean? I have to be appreciative. I don't criticise," remarked Purohit. He added that if the state administration departed from the Constitution, he would speak it out and "whether they are happy or upset, I do not bother". Purohit added that three representatives from each of the six border districts' village defence committees will receive an award on Republic Day of the following year. According to him, the first place would receive a reward of Rs. 3 lakh, second place will receive Rs. 2 lakh, and third place will receive Rs. 1 Lakh.
