 MP News: Dalit man's face smeared with human faeces, accused arrested

MP News: In a shocking turn of events, a Dalit man has claimed his face was smeared with human faeces in Madhya Pradesh’s Chattarpur. Following the outage, a man has been arrested in the case. The incident comes days after a man's video urinating on a tribal face’s leader in the state’s Sidhi district shook the entire nation, triggering widespread criticism.

MP Man’s face smeared with Faeces 

A Dalit man alleged that his face was smeared with faeces after he touched the accused with grease. The accused identified as Ramkripal Patel belongs to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community. A case has been registered against Patel under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, a police officer told news agency PTI. 

Dashrath Ahirwar, a Dalit man, approached police on Saturday, claiming that the incident occurred on Friday when he was working at a construction drain in a Bikaura village, about 35 km from the  Chhatarpur district headquarters.

The Dalit man alleged that he was taking a bath when he mistakenly touched Patel with the grease left on him after working at the construction site.

"Ramkripal Patel brought human faeces in a mug he was using to bathe and smeared it on my body, head, and face," he told reporters, adding that Mr Patel even abused him over his caste.

"I reported the matter to the panchayat and called for a meeting. Instead, the panchayat imposed a fine of ₹ 600 on me," Mr. Ahirwar alleged.

Case against accused

"A case is being registered against Ramkripal Patel under Sections 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes (prevention of atrocities) Act," Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Manmohan Singh Baghel said.

Recent incident

A few weeks ago, a video showing a man urinating on a labourer went in MP’s Sidhi district went viral. It was later revealed that the culprit is an associate of a sitting BJP MLA - a charge that the party denied. The video was also taken into cognisance by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who asked authorities to take stern action against the culprit. The CM also invited the man who was urinated on at his residence and washed his feet, terming him Sudama to his Krishna.
