Meerut News: City to soon get air connectivity, talks underway to start the project soon

Meerut News: The air-flying facility will soon benefit the citizens of Meerut. The administration is making all the necessary arrangements to fulfill their dream. There will be 72 seater airplanes that will fly on the 200-meter wide and 2700-meter-long Bhim Rao Ambedkar airstrip. The rules have already finalized land for the purpose and after completing the formalities tenders will be put out and work on the airstrip will begin soon. The length of the airstrip will be 2700 meters. The airport authority had earlier sent a survey report to the administration requesting 400 hectares of land for the airstrip in 2021.

Authorities trying to finalize final deal

The district administration has been working for 3 years to acquire 130 acres of land. Authorities have been trying to negotiate with 3 villages to finalize a deal on the land for the airstrip. Efforts are on to buy land and as soon as the deal is done, the rest of the formalities will begin

The airport authority and the District administration have completed the survey and held a meeting to discuss the expansion and number of planes. The report will be presented to the area MP in 4-5 days.
