States Manish Sisodia arrest: AAP leaders protest in Punjab, say 'BJP is registering fake cases' Shivani Negi Feb 28, 2023 03:02 GMT Manish Sisodia: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Monday demonstrated a massive protest against the unconstitutional arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The senior AAP leader was arrested on Sunday evening after being grilled by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for eight hours in an alleged scam in Delhi’s excise policy. A Delhi court on Monday sent him to five-day CBI custody. Many cabinet ministers of Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann cabinet, including Harpal Singh Cheema, Anmol Gagan Mann, Lalchand Kataruchak, Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Dr Balbir Singh, Harjot Bains, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijhar and AAP Punjab General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat, also participated in the protest. 'BJP registering fake cases against AAP' During the protest, the AAP leaders were seen raising slogans against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the Centre. Calling the arrest of Delhi Dy CM a dictatorial decision, they said that such actions are a threat to democracy in the country. AAP Punjab leader and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that BJP is using central agencies such as CBI and ED to suppress the opposition’s voice. BJP is registering fake cases against AAP leaders and putting them in jail, he claimed. He further stated that Sisodia’s house was searched multiple times but nothing was found. BJP’s aim is to stop Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, he said, adding that the party will continue to work for the common people.
