The woman, identified as Vartika Patel, had come to visit the waterfall with her husband, Saurabh Patel, and other family members. Details of the Incident Saurabh Patel, an advocate at the Prayagraj High Court, narrated the events leading to the accident. "We went out to explore on Friday. At the waterfall, we started taking each other's pictures. Vartika first took my photos, and then I began taking hers. She moved close to the edge to pose, setting her dupatta aside. As she took a step back without looking, I yelled at her to watch out, but it was too late. She slipped and fell." Search and Recovery Operation The search operation to find Vartika began on Friday evening but had to be halted due to darkness. The operation resumed on Saturday morning. A member of the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) descended the cliff using a rope and retrieved the body. Police Statement Additional SP Vivek Lal confirmed the incident, stating, "The woman was standing at the edge of the waterfall when she slipped and fell, resulting in her tragic death." Aftermath The body was sent for post-mortem and subsequently handed over to the family. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the Patel family, who had recently celebrated Vartika and Saurabh's wedding just three months ago.
