MP News: Major Boost for Madhya Pradesh: World’s Longest LPG Pipeline Reaches Three Cities

MP News: Madhya Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone with three of its cities – Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain – now connected to the world's longest LPG pipeline. This 2,805-kilometer pipeline project stretches from Kandla in Gujarat to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Launched in 2019 as a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the pipeline aims to streamline LPG supply and eliminate the dependency on tanker transport.

Pipeline to Supply LPG Across Key Regions in Madhya Pradesh

The project is set to provide a consistent LPG supply to bottling plants of Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil in Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain, along with nearby areas including Sagar and Bina. This initiative will support the distribution of LPG cylinders across these cities and neighboring districts. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla highlighted the investment of approximately ₹50,000 crore by the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in Madhya Pradesh as part of the state’s rapid development strategy.

Completion Timeline and Future Benefits

With 620 kilometers of the LPG pipeline already completed in Madhya Pradesh, significant progress has also been made in Gujarat, where 90% of the 1,076-kilometer stretch is finished, and in Uttar Pradesh, with 95% of its 1,109-kilometer line completed. The project is expected to be fully operational by March 2025, at which point LPG refilling for cylinders will commence, providing a more efficient and reliable gas supply to consumers.
