Madhya Pradesh man who urinated on tribal labourer arrested

Madhya Pradesh: On intervening night of Tuesday Wednesday, Pravesh Shukla, the man who was seen on camera urinating on a labour from a tribal group, was taken into custody. A video of the incident went viral, and many people demanded that Shukla be punished.

Six days after the incident in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, the police just discovered the video on Tuesday.

According to a senior police source who spoke to the ANI news agency, Pravesh Shukla has been arrested and is being questioned.

Shukla was the subject of a FIR under the SC/ST Act, Sections 294 (Obscene Acts), and 504 (Intentional Insult to Provoke Breach of the Peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In response to the widely shared video, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, also declared that he has given the instructions for Shukla to be charged under the National Security Act.

According to Singh Chouhan, the government will make sure the culprit receives the "sternest possible punishment" in order to set an example.

"We will not spare him (culprit) at any cost,” he said.

Criminals have no caste, religion and party: Chouhan

Chouhan on asked about whether the accused belongs to the BJP said, “Criminals have no caste, religion and party. A criminal is just a criminal. He will not be spared.”

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra echoing similar sentiments said, "Irrespective of which party he is, whoever commits mistake will be punished."

Following the release of the video, the state's opposition claimed that Pravesh Shukla is representative of BJP MLA Kedar Shukla. Shukla posted a picture of the two on Facebook. The BJP strongly rejected any connections to Shukla.

Kedar Shukla acknowledged that he knew the accused but added that Shukla wasn't his representative.

Ramakant Shukla, Pravesh Shukla's father, asserted that his son was Kedar Shukla's agent. "He is being targeted by the opposition because he is a representative of the BJP MLA. Ramakant expressed his hope that the case would be thoroughly investigated and that justice would be done.
