States Hitches and Glitches torpedo proposed 24 hours Delhi Nightclub operations Nikhilesh Kunal Feb 24, 2023 08:45 GMT Nightclub owners in Delhi were over the moon when Delhi Lieutenant Governor passed an order that could operate for 24 hours. Nightclub owners has wholeheartedly welcomed the decision on ease of getting licenses from municipal corporation, Delhi Police, fire service and Delhi Pollution Control Board Committee and the reduction in red tape with fewer forms to fill and online submission of documents. Nightclub Owners have not been able to renew their licenses However LG’s announcement , meant to be a Republic Day gift has come as a dampener for Nightclub owners as they are unable to renew their licenses. In fact few of them have suspended operations till the online facility for permissions is activated. Delhi Police not granting permission Nightclub owners have revealed that Delhi Police was not granted them permission on the ground that the paperwork could not be done offline any longer. However, no such link has been activated. He also further revealed that club owners might hold the excise license , but without the permission of police, they cannot operate beyond 12:30 am. This has caused losses to his nightclub Soho, which has to pay rentals to Hotel Ashok owner ITDC. Further revealed that has had to close his Nightclub for a few weeks to overcome the losses, until permission issue is not resolved and sorted out. Sidhant Sharma , CEO of White Nightclub at Hotel Samrat who bought international brand’s franchise in Delhi has been told by the franchise owners to terminate the contract because of the drastic fall in the expected and projected revenues. Sharma has put in the best infrastructure in the Night Club, but due to early closing has been to convince the management of the brand about the bureaucratic holdings that are affecting the business. He was forced to close his nightclub in anticipation of a quick resolution. People who are waiting to open new clubs have revealed that opening a night club till 1 am does not make business sense and are banking on LG’s measure to be implemented soon.
