Punjab Haryana Weather Update: As the heatwave continued to grip Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast some relief in the form of light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next few days. Himachal Pradesh is expected to experience these weather changes from June 19-23, while Punjab and Haryana will see similar conditions from June 19-21.

Record High Temperatures

Despite the forecast, temperatures remained exceptionally high across the region. In Punjab, Sangrur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in Haryana, Nuh reached a scorching 45.3 degrees Celsius. The highest minimum temperature in Punjab was 32.9 degrees Celsius in Faridkot, whereas Rohtak in Haryana recorded a minimum of 35.4 degrees Celsius.

Rain Brings Partial Relief to Himachal Pradesh

In Himachal Pradesh, many parts received light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday evening, providing some respite from the intense heat. According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, isolated places in the districts of Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Kangra, and Kinnaur experienced rain. However, the maximum temperature in several areas continued to hover above 40 degrees Celsius, with Una recording the highest temperature of 44 degrees Celsius.

  • Hamirpur: 41.3°C
  • Dhaulakuan: 41.5°C
  • Sundernagar: 40.6°C
  • Chamba: 39.7°C
  • Mandi: 39°C

Hill Stations

Among the hill stations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius, Manali 28.3 degrees Celsius, Dalhousie 23.3 degrees Celsius, and Kasauli 32.6 degrees Celsius. Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was the coldest place in the state, with the lowest minimum temperature recorded at 7.3 degrees Celsius.

While the upcoming weather changes offer some hope for relief from the severe heat, residents are advised to stay cautious and hydrated amidst the soaring temperatures.
