In a chilling turn of events, former model Divya Pahuja, 27, was found shot in the head at point-blank range in a Gurugram hotel room on January 2. The shocking incident has taken a gruesome turn with the recovery of her body from a canal in Haryana's Fatehabad district on January 13.

Background of the Crime

Divya Pahuja was allegedly taken to Hotel City Point by five individuals, where she was fatally shot in room number 111. Gurugram Police revealed that the motive behind the murder was her alleged extortion of money from the hotel owner, 56-year-old Abhijeet Singh, by blackmailing him with compromising pictures.

Gruesome Details from the Post-Mortem

The autopsy, conducted at Agroha Medical College, exposed the brutality of the crime. A bullet was extracted from Divya Pahuja's head, and the viscera has been preserved for further investigation. The post-mortem was carried out by four doctors, and the body was subsequently handed over to Pahuja's family for the final rites.

Arrests and Forensic Examination

The Gurugram Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) has made several arrests in connection with the case. Balraj Gill, one of the accused, provided information leading to the recovery of Pahuja's body. Two pistols from the house of the main accused, Abhijeet Singh, and a pistol belonging to his Personal Security Officer (PSO) Parvesh are undergoing forensic examination. The police suspect one of these weapons may have been used in the murder.

CCTV Footage Shows Shocking Scene

CCTV footage from Hotel City Point captured the accused, including Abhijeet Singh, dragging Divya Pahuja's lifeless body through the lobby, wrapped in a white sheet. The perpetrators later fled the hotel with the body in the car's trunk. Abhijeet Singh handed over the vehicle to Balraj Gill, who, along with another accused, disposed of the body at the behest of Singh.

Divya Pahuja's Troubled Past

Divya Pahuja, no stranger to legal troubles, had spent over seven years in jail for her involvement in conspiring a "fake encounter" of her partner, gangster Sandeep Gandoli, in Mumbai. Released on bail in June 2023, Pahuja's past has come to light, adding complexity to the current investigation.
