Kiran Choudhry arrives at the BJP office in Delhi.

Reasons Behind the Resignation

Kiran Chaudhary is reportedly upset with the Congress over her daughter Shruti Chaudhary's rejection of a Lok Sabha seat. There were rumors that Kiran Chaudhary will join the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections as well. But back then, she had written these rumors off.

Kiran Chaudhary said, "I am resigning from the Congress membership. I have been a loyal member of the Congress for four decades. I have dedicated my life to the party and the people for whom I have stood. In Haryana, I also represent the legacy of late Bansi Lal Lal and late husband Surendra Singh, the architect of modern Haryana."

She added "However, it is very unfortunate that the Congress party in Haryana is being run as a personal fiefdom, in which there is no place for honest voices like mine, who have been suppressed and humiliated in a very planned and systematic manner. A systematic conspiracy was hatched."

Shruti Chaudhary’s Resignation Letter

In her resignation, Shruti Choudhary wrote, "The Congress party in Haryana has unfortunately become a person-centric one who has compromised the interest of the party for his selfish interests. So now it is time for me to move on so that I can uphold the interests of my people and the values I stand for." There is a limit to the amount of insults one can take, Kiran Chaudhary reportedly stated, taking aim at Bhupendra Singh Hooda, according to news agency PTI.
