Greater Noida News: Eight New Footbridges Set to Ease Pedestrian Woes by Next Year, Details

Greater Noida News: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is in the process of constructing eight foot overbridges (FOBs) at strategic locations within the city, such as across from the district collectorate in Surajpur, along the Surajpur-Kasna road near Kailash Hospital, and in close proximity to Durga Talkies in Ecotech 2.

Where will the FOB be constructed in Greater Noida?

Foot overbridges will be constructed at various locations, including near the Gamma Shopping Mall close to Apeejay International School, at Ek Murti Rotary within Sector 16 B, within the Nirala Estate township, at Artha SEZ in Sector Techzone 4, near Supertech Eco Village, and adjacent to Yarthath Hospital in Sector 16 B.

The foot overbridges (FOBs) are planned to be developed under a Build, Fund, Operate, and Transfer (BFOT) model. Officials anticipate finalizing the company selection process by November, with construction expected to span another year. The Greater Noida Authority has issued three Request for Proposals (RFPs) for FOB construction, and the chosen firms will finance the FOBs independently, with the opportunity to recoup their expenses through advertising.

Under the proposal terms, selected companies will be granted a 20-year license to display advertisements on the FOBs, which will feature two staircases and two lifts operated by the company. After a specified duration, the Greater Noida Authority plans to assume control of the FOBs, with penalties in place for any violations. Companies have until October 25 to submit their bids, and a pre-bid meeting is set for October 17, allowing interested companies to address concerns and offer suggestions. Technical bids will be opened on October 27, followed by eligible companies submitting financial bids as part of the final selection process.

Rising demand for FOBs

The GNIDA, in collaboration with consulting agency RITES, conducted a survey to determine the suitable locations for the FOBs. The demand for FOBs in the city has been a persistent request from residents. Despite previous tender issuances resulting in no company interest, the Authority made prior attempts to construct three FOBs, which were unsuccessful. A new initiative is currently underway to successfully complete this project.
