States Ghaziabad News: Residents running shops from Houses will have to shell out more Tax, check details Madhulika Rai Aug 21, 2023 08:59 GMT Ghaziabad News Ghaziabad News: All those people who are running their shops from their homes might land up in trouble as the Municipal Commissioner of the city has bring some tough laws especially for the ones who are running their business from their houses. The Municipal Commissioner has decided to impose tax on the people who have their shops inside their houses. The Commissioner is hoping to increase the Tax revenue by implementing this rule on the shop owners. Over 33000 people will be affected if this rule is implemented in the city. However, People have decided to boycott the Commissioner’s move Corporation looking for ways to increase its Revenue The Municipal Corporation has done a survey in which they found out that over 33 thousand people are running shops inside their houses in the city. But the owners of these shops are paying tax on the Residential rates. According to the Commissioner, earlier these people used to pay tax as per the Residential Rates, but from now onwards they will be asked to pay tax as per Commercial Rates. Although the rates for the Commercial businesses are much more higher than the rates of the Residential businesses. The Municipal Commission is also looking for options to increase its revenue. The authorities have decided to sent notices to such House owners who are running shops from their residences. Revenue of 6 crores 37 lakh collected so far The Corporation has collected revenue of 6 crores 37 lakh rupees, which will increase from 24 crores.
