States Food truck trend in Delhi to Boost night-time economy: CM Kejriwal Shivani Negi Jun 14, 2023 06:10 GMT Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a policy that regulates the food truck business in Delhi, enabling food hub culture to flourish in several areas. The move is expected to introduce a new trend in Delhi, as per the senior officials. The officials added that the food trucks will be operating even at night to flourish the night-time economy in the capital city. Food truck trend in Delhi Food trucks are going to be the next big thing in Delhi, a city known for its street food. The food truck business has been prevalent across many countries and has seen a boom over the last few years. In Delhi, the trend is significantly new but is expected to grow over the years. These food trucks will be allowed to operate round the clock, further benefitting the night-time economy in the city. Rozgaar Budget The idea of food trucks in Delhi was first introduced in the Kejriwal government’s ‘Rozgaar Budget’ Budget for 2022-23 in an attempt to generate more employment to boost the economy severely hit by Covid-19 disruptions. “This plan will allow the citizens of Delhi to enjoy delicious meals even late at night. Additionally, it will create opportunities for employment on a large scale and strengthen the economy,” CM Kejriwal said while approving the policy. 16 new food hubs Sharing more details about the project, officials said that the first 16 food hubs will be set up at August Kranti Marg (near Hudco Place), Near Priya Cinema in Vasant Vihar, DDA Park in Rohini, Mandir Marg in Vasant Kunj, Press Enclave Road in Saket and Delhi’s metro’s parking lots in Rohini East, Vasant Vihar, Patel Chowk, Vishwavidyalaya, Dwarka Sector 9, Janakpuri East and Netaji Subhash Place among others.
