 Bihar News: Truck driver lynched on suspicion of carrying beef in Saran, 7 arrested

Bihar News: On Wednesday, A 55-year old truck driver who was carrying animal bones to a registered factory in Bihar’s Saran district was lynched by a mob on suspicion of carrying beef. As per the police authorities the incident happened in the night hours of Wednesday and early Thursday when Mohammed Zahiruddin had parked his truck near Khori Pakar village.

Lynching incident

Zahiruddin was searching for a mechanic along with his helper Khurshid Ali. Soon some villagers started questioning about the goods that are bring transported. A strong, foul smell emanating from the truck raised suspicion among villagers, who accused Zahiruddin of transporting beef and proceeded to beat him. Zahiruddin's helper Ali managed to escape the spot. As per the authorities Zahiruddin was being beaten down before he could even start giving explanation. The animal bones being carried to factory were used for medicinal purposes.

Aftermath of incident

Zahiruddin was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead upon arrival. A a resident of Majhwalia village in same the district succumbed to internal injury sustained during incident with the villagers.

Saran Superintendent of Police Gaurav Mangla stated “Zahiruddin had been carrying bones to a licenced Marhaura factory using bones for medicinal purposes. It was a usual thing. We promptly took action and arrested seven villagers in this connection.” 

This is the second mob lynching incident in Saran since March, when Naseem Quereshi was lynched on allegations of selling beef. Naseem died few hours after the incident while police made 3 arrests related to incident.
