Arvind Kejriwal to Resign as Delhi CM, Accuses BJP of Trying to Break AAP and Form Government

Big Breaking! Arvind Kejriwal Announces Intent to Resign as Delhi CM in 2 Days

In a bold political move, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announced his intention to resign as the Chief Minister of Delhi within two days, stating that he will not resume office until he receives a fresh mandate from the people. Speaking to AAP workers after his release on bail in the Delhi excise policy case, Kejriwal laid bare his future plans while sharply criticizing the BJP for its efforts to destabilize his government.

Arvind Kejriwal: "I Will Not Sit on the CM Chair Until People Give Their Verdict"

Addressing the public, Kejriwal made it clear that he would resign in two days and will not return to the Chief Minister's office until the people express their verdict in his favor. "I am going to resign from the CM position after two days. I will not sit on the CM chair until the people give their verdict... I will go to every house and street and not sit on the CM chair till I get a verdict from the people," said Kejriwal, calling for a fresh electoral mandate.

Call for Early Elections

Kejriwal urged that elections be advanced to November, coinciding with Maharashtra's state polls, rather than waiting for the scheduled elections in February.
"The elections are supposed to be held in February. I demand elections be held in November with Maharashtra elections... Till elections are held, someone else from the party will be the Chief Minister. In the next 2-3 days, a meeting of the MLAs will be held, where the next CM will be decided," he announced, highlighting that AAP leadership will choose his interim successor.

Allegations of BJP's Formula to Break AAP

In his speech, Kejriwal accused the BJP of using underhanded tactics to weaken his party. He said, "They sent me to jail because their goal was to break the AAP and the courage of Arvind Kejriwal... They thought they would break our party and form a government in Delhi after jailing me... But our party did not break..." he remarked defiantly.

Standing Firm to Protect the Constitution

Kejriwal revealed why he did not resign from jail, highlighting that his refusal was rooted in a determination to safeguard India’s democratic framework.
"I did not resign from the jail because I wanted to protect the Constitution of India. I wanted to fail their formula... The SC asked the central government why a government cannot run from the jail... The SC proved that a government can run from jail," he added, referencing the support he received from the judiciary.
