Zaheer Khan: The bowling legend of India, Zaheer Khan has recently been appointed as the Mentor for Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2025. Sanjiv Goenka, LSG owner held a press conference in Kolkata for this special announcement. Zaheer Khan is all set to fill the empty spot left by Gautam Gambhir last year when he switched back to his previous franchise, KKR. Fans have been anticipating the possible union of Zaheer and LSG which resulted positively.

Zaheer Khan as Lucknow Super Giants Mentor

IPL team Lucknow Super Giants was founded in 2021 and it is owned by RPSG group. Previously, the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group used to own Rising Pune Supergiants. LSG had appointed Gautam Gambhir as the mentor for the team in IPL seasons 2022 and 2023. Last year, Gautam Gambhir switched back to his previous franchise, leaving the mentor spot empty in LSG. This year, the spirited Indian bowler Zaheer Khan took over the spot and is set to make noticeable changes.

The former Left-handed seamer used to be the Head of Development and Director of Cricket for Mumbai Indians. Sanjiv Goenka in the conference mentioned that he was unaware of Zaheer's status with MI. He said, 'Till some time ago, I didn't know that he was no longer with MI.' 'I approached him immediately.' Sanjiv further said, 'He is strategically strong and has got the respect of the community.'

Zaheer will join forces with the Lucknow Super Giants' Coaching team. The team includes Head Coach Justin Langer and skilled members Lance Klusener, Adam Voges and Jonty Rhodes. The former cricketer Zaheer present at the press conference said 'The next season is going to be a special one.'
