WTC 2023: On Wednesday, April 19th, Cricket Australia unveiled a 17-member squad for the highly-anticipated World Test Championship Final. The Australian cricket board shared the news via Twitter and revealed a robust lineup for the WTC Final, slated to occur from June 7th to June 11th, 2023 at the Oval.

Cricket Australia announces squad for WTC 2023

The 17-member squad includes Australian opener David Warner, who has managed to hold on to his spot despite his recent poor form. His selection is possibly due to the upcoming Ashes series scheduled to occur after the WTC Final. Additionally, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, and Marcus Harris are noteworthy names who have retained their places in the squad.

Pat Cummins, the Australian Test captain, will make his comeback to the team after being absent from the last two matches of the Border Gavaskar trophy 2023. Notably, Cummins had to leave the squad and return to Australia due to a family emergency, and he did not participate in the final Test of the series due to the passing of his mother.

The official statement from Cricket Australia stated, “The 17 players named today will begin preparations for the final two Tests of the subsequent Ashes campaign at Edgbaston (June 16-20) and Lord’s (June 28 - July 2) before selectors revise the group for the last three Ashes Tests at Headingley, Old Trafford and The Oval."
