Tennis ace Martina Navratilova diagnosed with throat and breast cancer

Tennis ace Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer. “This double whammy is serious but still fixable,” said the 66-year-old in a statement. “I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all have I got.”

59 Grand Slams winner

Navratilova who has 59 Grand Slam titles to her name including singles, doubles and mixed doubles, has already defeated cancer once before.

She dominated women's Tennis for an era and has been one of the most successful stars who played the game.

Navratilova wouldn't be part of Australian Open commentary team

Navratilova won’t be working the upcoming Australian Open for Tennis Channel, but there are hopes of some Zoom appearances at the mega tournament.

One of her close mate stated that in 2010, at the age of 53, when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she cried for “about 15 seconds” and then asked her doctor, “OK, what do we do? What’s the next step?”

“I really didn’t talk much about breast cancer before I had it. Now, I’m approached by women and we share our stories. It’s encouraging to see that there’s life after cancer,” said Navratilova in 2010.
