T20 World Cup 2022: Fake Fielding and umpiring issue will be raised at "Proper Forum" says Bangladesh

T20 World Cup 2022: The second innings of India vs. Bangladesh's 2022 T20 World Cup match was quite the spectacle. While Litton Das wrecked havoc on the Indian bowlers in the Powerplay, Rohit Sharma's team gained momentum after the rain delay by putting a stunning comeback to win by five runs (DLS) in Adelaide.

When play resumed, concerns over the quality of the field surfaced as Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan's said that he had a thorough discussion with the umpires about it.

Nurul Hasan highlighted the issue

But after the game, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan brought attention to another incident: an Indian team fake fielding effort. Before the rain break, the above incident occurred when Virat Kohli appeared to fake field as openers Litton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto went to run for two.

After the incident's footage went viral on social media, many Bangladeshi cricketers demanded that India be given a five-run penalty. According to Bangladesh, the incident went unnoticed by umpires Marais Erasmus and Chris Brows. Strangely, neither of the two batters paid attention to Kohli's actions as well.

Will take it to a 'proper forum': BCB Head

Jalal Yunus, the head of cricket operations for the BCB, said that Shakib and the umpires had a lengthy conversation about the issue. He also revealed that the Bangladesh captain brought up the field's wet condition and asked the officials for more time to dry it.

“We have spoken about it. You have seen it in the TV and everything happened in front of you. There was one regarding fake throw and we have notified the umpires about the fake throw but he said he did not notice it and that is the reason he did not take the review. Shakib discussed a lot about it with Erasmus and even spoke with him after game," Jalal said.

“Secondly, Shakib had spoken about the wet field and he asked that he can take some more time and let the field get dried and start the game after the field is dried. But... the umpires' decision is final and that is reason there was no place for argument. There was only one decision whether you will play or not play.”

Continuing further he said, "We have it in our head so that we can raise the issue in the proper forum.”
