SPORTS Stephaine Frappart to become first woman referee in men's FIFA World Cup Harshit Dec 01, 2022 16:46 GMT Stephanie Frappart from France is set to write her name in the history books during FIFA World Cup Group E clash between Germany and Costa Rica. The French woman will become the first woman to referee a match at the men's World Cup. Notably, this match is set to have two other female refrees. Brazil’s Neuza Back and Mexican Karen Diaz Medina are the other women officials for the mega clash. It is the first time a men’s World Cup match will be led by an all-female refereeing team. It is not Frappart’s first record. In 2021, she became the first woman to referee a men’s World Cup qualifying match when she took charge of the Netherlands vs Latvia game. This Thursday, an all-female refereeing trio will take charge of a men’s @FIFAWorldCup match for the first time. She is also the first official to take charge of a men's Champion League game during Juventus and Dyanamo Kyiv clash in Turin.
