Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has denied the claims of the split captaincy in multiple formats during a press conference on Monday ahead of the third One Day Internationals vs New Zealand. Indian selectors have been naming all-rounder Hardik Pandya as captain in T20Is since the T20 World Cup.
Rohit Sharma and a few other senior players were denied their spot in T20Is and there were speculations is now India's full-time T20I captain. Pandya was also named as the vice-captain of the ODI setup during the Sri Lanka series.
Dravid's Big Statement
Denying all the claims, Rahul Dravid has said he doesn't have any idea of the split captaincy and backed Rohit Sharma.
"Not that I am aware of (India adopting split captaincy). That’s a question you need to ask the selectors but as of now, I don’t think so," said Dravid.
Rohit wants to play T20Is
Earlier, Rohit Sharma himself cleared that he is not thinking to give up the shortest format and he will decide his future after the IPL.
"We have three T20Is against New Zealand. We will see what happens after IPL. I have not decided to give up the format," Rohit had said earlier this month.
