Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond lauded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his commitment to sports, particularly for distributing a massive Rs. 88 crore in prize money to athletes excelling at national and international levels. Punjab's Sports Culture Flourishes with Major Financial Support Recent honors include Rs. 12.5 crore awarded to 19 Olympians who represented India in the Paris Olympics, Rs. 29.25 crore distributed among 32 Asian Games medalists, and Rs. 4.58 crore to 136 winners of the National Games. These significant financial rewards highlight the state's focus on encouraging athletes to excel on the global stage. 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' – Nurturing Future Champions In addition to rewarding elite athletes, Punjab’s grassroots initiatives are also making waves. The 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' program, aimed at fostering future sports champions, saw participation from an impressive 4.5 lakh athletes. A total of Rs. 8.69 crore was awarded to 11,000 winners across various sporting categories, providing a significant boost to young talents.
