The Asian cricket team was dethroned from the top spot because they were unable to secure a 5-0 victory over the visiting New Zealand team in Karachi on Sunday, May 7. They achieved this remarkable feat by defeating New Zealand by 102 runs in the 4th ODI. In doing so, they surpassed both India and Australia to secure the coveted number one position. Nevertheless, Pakistan's hopes of maintaining their No. 1 position were dashed as they suffered a 47-run loss to New Zealand in the final match of the series on Sunday. Consequently, they slipped down to the No. 3 spot in the ICC Men's ODI Rankings. Australia now occupies the top spot with 113 points, closely followed by India at No. 2, also with 113 points. Pakistan currently holds the No. 3 position with 112 points, intensifying the competition for the top spot in this crucial year leading up to the ODI World Cup.
