Olympics hopes of Saina, Srikant ends with no qualifier due to COVID pandemic

Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth's hopes of making into this year's Tokyo Olympic Games has come to an end as the badminton's global body is no more organizing qualifying tournament due to COVID-19.

"The Badminton World Federation (BWF) can confirm no further tournaments will be played inside the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifying window. As such, while the qualification period officially closes 15 June 2021 as per the Revised Tokyo 2020 Qualification System, the current Race To Tokyo rankings list will not change," the world body said.

So, it's clear now only four Indian players namely-- PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth, Satwiksairaj Ranikireddy, and Chirag Shetty will be part of July's Tokyo Olympics.
