The 2022 World Cup will have four games a day in a group stage and matches later in the tournament that go into extra time will extend past midnight in Qatar.

There is no space for a gap without games between the group stage and round of 16. Tournament is now of 28 days rather than normal 32 days.

"The World Cup is always a festival of football, a real celebration for the fans who come on-site and watch," FIFA chief tournaments and events officer Colin Smith said. "In Qatar, with the compact nature, this now ambushed even more with 32 teams and 32 sets of supporters all in and around Doha," said Nasser Al Khater, CEO of the Qatar World Cup organizing company.

Its now two and a half years, Qatar had launched the brand new 40,000-capacity Al-Janoub stadium and the refurbished Khalifa International ground. The COVID-19 pandemic destroyed the hopes of spectators and the income source of the committee.
